Start Your Day With Baked Pancakes

Homemade Sourdough Pancakes with Butter

Most people know that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. After all, it gives you both physical and mental energy. However, like a lot of other people, you probably don’t like that most often, this involves frying foods. Now, you can make yummy pancakes, not in a skillet but rather in the oven. Follow this recipe for baked pancakes.

The Ingredients You’ll Need

Although you’ll bake these pancakes, they’ll come out fluffy, light, and delicious.

  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 cup of all-purpose flour
  • Two large eggs (beaten)
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon granulated sugar
  • Juice from 1/4 of a lemon
  • 1 tablespoon powdered sugar

Putting It All Together

The great thing about this baked pancake recipe is that you can offer your kids a healthier alternative without them knowing it.

Step One

Start by preheating the oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit.

Step Two

Next, put the butter in a 9-inch pie or baking dish. Put the dish in the oven until the butter melts completely. Usually, this takes anywhere from five to 10 minutes.

Step Three

In a medium-sized bowl, whisk the milk, eggs, flour, salt, and granulated sugar. If preferred, you can use either a standing or a hand mixer. After blending the ingredients, pour them into the hot dish that contains the melted butter.

Step Four

With that done, you’ll bake the pancake for roughly 20 to 25 minutes. You’ll know when it’s done once the edges turn golden brown. In addition, you’ll want to carefully poke the center with a fork or toothpick to ensure the batter’s cooked all the way through.

Step Four

Transfer the baked pancake to a serving plate. Then sprinkle a little lemon juice on top, followed by a dusting of powdered sugar.

Alternatives

As you would with skillet pancakes, you can alter the flavor. For example, you could sprinkle a few miniature chocolate chips on top when it’s still warm. You could also sprinkle fresh fruit on the pancake. You could even put ricotta cheese inside before serving them. Although you can freeze these pancakes and reheat them in a microwave, they always taste best right out of the oven.

Enjoy a Healthier Breakfast

Because you don’t use oil to make these, they’re healthier than traditional pancakes. Not only that, but after eating them, you won’t experience a drop in energy or an upset stomach as some people do after eating fried foods.

To complete your breakfast, consider adding fresh-squeezed orange juice or apple juice. Even baked, these pancakes taste delicious. They’re so good that your kids will prefer them over what you usually make.
