Food and snacks at your football watch party are a must in Columbus, TX. However, nobody wants to spend the day in the kitchen instead of in front of the TV with friends and family. The beauty of creating dips is you can get tons of flavor in a single dish.  Craft several of these dips and serve them with choices ranging from chips to veggies. That way, you can create filling foods that will please the crowd without keeping you away from the game.

A Chunky, Funky Guacamole

A good guacamole recipe is always a fan favorite, and you can prep this tasty guac in under 10 minutes. However, you’ll probably want to double or triple the recipe if you invite more than a couple of people. So, here’s what you need:

  • 1 ripe Hass avocado
  • ½ cup of seeded and diced jalapeño
  • The zest and 1 tablespoon of juice of one lemon or lime
  • ¼ cup of diced white onion
  • 1 clove of grated or minced garlic
  • 12 fresh basil leaves sliced into ribbons
  • ½ teaspoon of Himalayan salt
  • ¼ teaspoon of ground coriander

Mash the avocado and combine it with all ingredients. Then, serve it with tortilla chips or fresh veggie sticks.

7-Layer Dip, But Make It Personal

Undoubtedly, everyone loves a seven-layer dip – it’s like a meal in a dish. And putting together a seven-layer dip is fast and easy. But when you make a big dish of it, you run the risk of double-dipping. So, avoid the dreaded double-dip and make individual pots of seven-layer dip for your guests. Some layer suggestions include:

  • Black or pinto refried beans
  • Cheese – use pepper Jack or a Mexican blend
  • Guacamole
  • Salsa
  • Sour Cream
  • Lettuce and tomato
  • Ground beef or shredded chicken, or pork

Spicy Bacon Dip FTW

Finding someone who doesn’t like bacon is tough, so this dip will likely become a watch party favorite. To make it, you’ll need:

  • ½ cup chopped cooked bacon
  • 2 teaspoons of TABASCO® Chipotle sauce
  • 1 cup of sharp cheddar
  • ⅓ cup of ranch dressing
  • 8 ounces of cream cheese

Simply combine all the ingredients and then pop it in the oven warmed to 350℉ for 12-15 minutes to melt the cheeses. This dip goes perfectly with crostini, fresh veggies, or chips. However, use a sturdier chip that’ll hold up to the cheesy goodness. Also, you can substitute a spicier sauce if you want to ratchet up the heat.

Tips to Shorten Watch Party Prep Time

Get your dip ingredients measured and prepped the night before to save time on the big day. For example, you can chop a plate of vegetables for dipping the night before and bring it out ready to go once you get the dips on the table. Then, you can quickly put all three dips together in the kitchen and have them in front of your friends before the first kickoff.
