Plan Your Next Camping Trip At Waldo’s Camp

family camping

Along the Texas Colorado River, nestled into the beautiful landscape, you’ll find Waldo’s Camp. Adding to the seclusion and peace is that entry is by reservation only. In the 1950s, James “Waldo” Pritchard acquired this unique spot, and his son continues to manage the property today. With tons of amenities both on land and on the river, it’s time for you to plan your next camping trip at Waldo’s Camp.

RV Camping at Its Finest

You can book into Waldo’s for the night or stay for months. Because of the privacy and seclusion, you’ll find the peace soothing and restful. However, if you’re more the neighborly type, there are campsites to suit you, too. With nine campsites, you can get as close or as far from your neighbor as you need. And amenities abound at Waldo’s. In fact, seven of the sites have 50-amp hookups, and two sites have 30-amp hookups.

Slow Down and Enjoy

At Waldo’s, you’ll find yourself settling into a different pace of life for a while. Check-out time if you can bring yourself to leave is at noon. As a result, you can take all the time you need to enjoy a quiet cup of coffee and a comforting breakfast before it’s time to pack up. But if you change your plans and stay on a little bit longer, no one will be surprised. In the evening, wind down with the twilight. Quiet time in camp is at 10:30 pm, and you’ll love listening to the gentle sounds of the night.

Tube Along the Colorado River

For the ultimate in relaxation, schedule a tubing trip with Columbus River Co. They operate out of Waldo’s Camp and offer unbeatable rates for campers and non-campers alike. Columbus River Co. will haul the tubes upriver free of charge, and then you’ll float lazily with the currents until you reach Waldo’s infamous blue wall. But don’t think your river float is a short trip of only a few moments. Your float time down the river will take between two to three hours, so make sure you apply sunscreen and hydrate before taking off.

More Fun for Everyone

While Waldo’s Camp fiercely guards your privacy, there are tons of things to do for the more outgoing residents. Since it’s close to major cities, you can take a trip to Austin or one of the small, nearby townships. Of course, Columbus itself is home to several historical and contemporary gems. And if you time it right, your visit could happen during the Schulenburg Sausage Fest or the Colorado County Fair. But whatever you decide, Waldo’s Camp offers you the choice to do as much, or as little, as you please.
